PROGRAMME STRUCTURE AND REGULATIONS

The interdisciplinary Master’s degree programme ‘Public History and Culture’ is designed for students with a university degree in the humanities, cultural studies, or social sciences. It focuses on the public communication and practical application of history and culture.

INSTITUTIONS AND PERSONS INVOLVED

The course pProgramme is offered on an interdisciplinary basis by the Chairs of Bavarian Regional History (Prof. Dr Bernhard Löffler), the Chair of Media Informatics (Prof. Dr Christian Wolff), and the Chair of Comparative Cultural Studies (Prof. Dr Daniel Drascek) and the Junior Professorship for Public History (Prof. Dr Tomann). In addition to the participating chairs at the University of Regensburg, a number of cooperation partners from the fields of history and cultural mediation are actively involved in the programme.

PROJECT SEMINARS

In project seminars, students gain in-depth impressions and practical experience in working with our cooperation partners. Different thematic focuses enable a multi-perspective view of current possibilities of mediation practice in the participating disciplines. The results of the projects and reflections on their development processes are published here.

STUDYING IN REGENSBURG

The World Heritage city of Regensburg is not only a beautiful place steeped in history, but also a young and lively city that is very popular with students from both Germany and abroad. It offers a wide range of cultural and leisure activities. The city is therefore an ideal setting and starting point for the Master’s programme. As a place where history and culture are actively used on a daily basis as an identity, tourism and location factor, the city is an object of study and research par excellence.

APPLY NOW

Admission to the Master’s programme requires participation in an aptitude test, conducted after the application deadline. All applicants are also invited to an interview, which provides an additional opportunity to assess their academic qualifications.
